Siberian Soap Co. specializes in handcrafted soaps made using the cold process technique (the old-school lye soap technique that dates back centuries)... but this is not your grandma's soap! Each fabulous soap bar is chock full of skin-loving (and fur-loving) eco-friendly ingredients like coconut oil, olive oil, herbs, clays, botanicals, and pure plant essential oils. Siberian Soap Co. seeks to produce high quality, long-lasting functional products at a reasonable cost - an affordable luxury.
Ann Staudt is the founder, chief soap formulator, kitchen chemist, graphic designer, sales manager, packaging extraordinaire, and overall operations manager behind Siberian Soap Co. She holds degrees in both chemical and environmental engineering. Soapmaking provides a wonderfully creative outlet that combines her interests in science, art, and living a simple, eco-friendly lifestyle.
Staudt was born and raised an Iowa farm girl, and is proud to say that soapmaking goes back four generations in her family (along with an all-around DIY spirit). Starting around age three, Staudt had an early fascination with and desire to sell her goods at "crap" (craft) shows. She also picked up an early intrigue with farmers' markets as she and her younger sis helped Mom sell garden fresh veggies and produce at several markets across northern Iowa. Give it some time, and it all comes full circle!
Yes, the company is indeed named for Siberian huskies! Miss Jackie Dog is the original founding mascot and namesake of Siberian Soap Co. Though she has now passed, she lives on in perpetuity through Siberian Soap Co. Husky sisters Tundra and Taiga are currently holding down the fort. All three of these wonderful Siberian Huskies have been rescues, adopted from shelters across the Midwest. SHELTER DOGS ROCK!
10% of Siberian Soap Co.'s sales go towards animal rescue organizations. Three wonderful rescue huskies have brought so much joy to my life, so this is our way of paying it forward and sharing the love.
